Yeah well my dad always made me work and pay for my cars but I don't necessarily think it makes you a better worker. For me it just made it harder to focus on school and sports and my grades suffered.
Now as for my son, as long as he gets great grades I will buy him the best car I can within reason. Grades and behavior are number one in my book.

But the hard work you speak of, excelling in school, that's the responsibility of being a student. You get rewarded by not having to pay for rent or food. Any extra incentives from your parents are... well, extra incentives.
This post is just for those of you still in high school wanting your parents to buy you a car. If your parents get you a nice car, you are lucky, just like I was. But please don't feel entitled to a nice car simply because you do well in school.
I know most of ya that are in high school won't take this wholeheartedly, but in a few years when you look back, you'll get exactly what I'm trying to say.

well to all of you that say i shouldnt enter the contest... well i dont have a choice. people write my name down under the cool car category. then after the voting date is over, the top x number of cool car people go into a final voting to see who has the coolest car. so i dont have a say if i want to be in it or not. if i win i win if i lose then i lose. btw im supposedly <---(keyword) 3 votes less then the cobalt.

Huge hole is huge
Man, I was like 22 when I got mine, and I only had 2k downpayment. being a newb at buying cars from a dealer sucks. This is why the next time I do it, larger DP.

ive been with my parents a few times buyin cars and ive learned a few things. the more you put down the less you have to pay in interest. go for a 4 year plan with lower interest rates but pay it off in 3. anything over 5 years is stupid cuz your paying mostly interest and isnt worth it. pay it off as fast as you can. im 20
