What fun reading on here of the other Nut Jobs like me! I bought my first RX in '71 and look back at them still wishing I kept them all. I love my '04 and can't wait till the 16X hits the News(Hoping this March......i wish).

Don't bother spending the money on the R3... used 8s in good condition with low mileage are going for pennies on the dollar right now. Get a used one for dirt cheap with the current economic climate as opposed to getting a new one for a "good deal". The RX-8 in particular loses SO much of its value as soon as you drive it off the lot, don't waste all the extra money to get a new one. A used 2005 or 2006 would not be a bad financial decision if you have the money to spend.

The thing is with the 8... its like a disease. You start off thinking, "man this is a pretty neat car" then you find yourself with piles of mods posting all day on rx8club.com, going to get togethers, explaining to random people about how rotaries work, and installing a turbo kit... I got introduced to the car by a friend, now other close friends got 8s, so we look like a damn cult when we hang out.

I'm fascinated with this machine. It's a rotary and supposedly "speaks" to you, as a driving enthusiast from what I've gathered all around. It's not the fastest or the sexist thing around, but the fact that the car is unique and will engage you during the drive is truly intriguing and mystifying. A true driver's car then it seems. And so in a way, I truly am afraid to drive one as when it does call, the only choice I might have is to answer it..
