Control

Now i've driven FWD cars all my life and when I picked up my rx8 I was bracing myself a little (RWD) but I knew I was going to be okay. So last night it is raining so damn hard and i'm pulling out of my house, as I start to turn I give it normal gas (like I would in my FWD CAR) and boom, FISH TAIL!!! oh man.. that was so much fun. Question is, if you do it once in awhile is is bad for the car?

It's only bad if you lose control and crash it

BTW, I did the exact same thing when I first got mine.

Fish tailing in the rain won't really hurt your car. Fish tailing or peeling out really hurts your power train when you do it on dry pavement. What happens is that when the wheels finally stop spinning and take hold it slams averything from the axles, through the transmission and into the engine. Usually, the excessive shock wears the tranny prematurely. I've seen people blow gears out that way quick.
