Coming out of Storage

Hello gents,

It's been a while.

I've been away from the 8 across the country for around 9 months now. I've had my 8 in storage for 7 of those months. Before storing, I placed some stabilzer in the gas tank, pulled the battery, placed the car in neutral and chucked the wheels with the handbrake disengaged. One regret I have is that the car was not placed on stands in the garage as my real estate is much too small. I have the vehicle covered in a microfiber insulate cover.

My question to you fine folks is what the general protocol is for taking these bad boys out of storage. I've been recommended the following:

-remove the spark plugs
-place Idemitsu/2 stroke oil in the housings
-hand crank the motor over a few times
-repeat step 2 and hand crank again
-clean spark plugs
-reconnect the battery and start the vehicle
-get tires rebalanced and rotated

Should I be concerned running the stabilized gasoline with a two stroke mix? I'm not sure if these compounds have known to "play nice".

Any suggestions/experiences with taking an 8 out of storage would be appreciated guys. Only two weeks until I'm reunited with her!

Inspect visually for rodent damage and flat tires. Connect battery, start car, let it warm up to temp, go for a gentle drive :) I don't really understand the remove spark plugs/clean spark plug business.

No concerns about 2 stroke and stabilizer.

Source: store my car every winter.

I agree with the above. nothing special needed really. Air pressure and rodent damage would be my biggest concern really. You've really covered most of the bases as far as storing your car. I don't see a need to remove the plugs to install oil into the housings. Should not be an issue as far as oil starvation is concerned. May want to replace the engine oil and filter though as its sat for 7 months. I replace the oil in all of my cars once per year at minimum, even if I don't drive them the 3000 mile interval that I like to change the oil at.

Ouch. Which parts were stolen from your 8?
