Clutch squeaks when pressed and released?
My clutch recently began to make some squeak sound everytime I press it down and release
It squeaks like when you are opening an old wooden door...did a quick search and found people have been having similar problems...but there seemed to be no general consensus whether this is normal or not...
is this a problem that i should be concerned of at all?
thanks all

thanks all for sharing, but no, that is not the problem i have, my clutch has not snapped or broken...well, not yet...
it just makes squeaking sound when pressed and released...i may take it to dealer to see what is the problem, but i just want to get a better idea of what it is the problem first. thanks.

Like people have said..............squeaking is USUALLY the first indication that it is going to break on you. Not that it will, but one or more of those threads has pictures in it and I really think you should look at your bracket before you get stuck somewhere. Let us know what the dealer says, because if this is the issue, they will probably just try and spot weld it.

I have a similar problem with my clutch right now. It makes a squeeking sound that I can hear with the windows down. I believe it's a problem with the actual clutch or something under the hood. If you can hear it clearly from the driver's seat, and it sounds like it's coming from the pedal area, it could be another bad clutch. I already replaced one, and am not looking forward to do it again. When I ordered a new one, I found that there were two options available, the stock clutch pedal bracket or one with a "newer" design made of different material that cost more. Anyone know about this second option?

Not really(speaking of the clutch itself), but it's an indicator that your clutch pedal bracket near the floor maybe cracking. Have you noticed any side to side motion in the clutch pedal at all......no matter how slight?

Huge hole is huge
It doesn't break until after it starts squeaking.. You might be lucky, but I'd say prepare for the worst.
*edit* that's what I get for not hitting Reply for 10 minutes. You're on the right track.

It could be the cut switch. There's a TSB on that:

I've got a squeak which was pretty consistent until I brought it to the dealer. It disappeared once in the service area, of course. Reappeared when I drove off, disappeared again when I drove back in.

I too thought my clutch was going to break when it started squeaking.
Took my 05 to the dealership, they found the TSB, fixed it under warranty.
Haven't had a problem since.

Just keep a close eye on it, that's all I can tell you. It's not 100% sure that it's going to snap because it's squeaking.......it's just a lot have seen this as a prelude to failure.

Just the part. The service people said it is a part that they rarely keep in stock, so a call ahead might ensure same day repair when you do take it into the dealership.

It has been squeaking for over a year. Totally legit to drive. I probably use the clutch pedal about 5 to 10 times more than the average rx8 "cruising driver". Usually I do just for fun, every couple of minutes to perform some type of shifting maneuver. So of course it is going to squeak.

I had a chirp/squeak while in neutral at a stop light/sign. All I did was apply some grease to the front exposed face of the slave cylinder. The pic shows where to apply the grease. Its in the 10-11 o'clock position on your tranny. I just took grease and using my finger spread it between the slave cylinder piston and the fork.
