Yeah, after I brought my car in for an oil change, I now have that click/snap too, I was also getting a metallicish (really hard to describe) when accellerating that was brand new, sound as well, that went away in about 100 miles though. I noticed the loud clicking/snapping sound happens much more often when the AC is on. I am getting the AC TSB fix when ever the part comes in, probably some time this week.

Something to do with the M flash? I also had my tires rotated, and my creaky front driver seat fixed, but I don't see how either one of those has anything to do with the engine.

Did you happen to have your 8 serviced recently? Did they look at the AC by chance?

The clicking is the fuel system priming/pressurizing before you start the car.

According to the Technical Highlights CD, there are several solenoids and valves that perform a self-test when the ignition is first turned on. They were always audible on mine.
