you know the amber (orange) markers on the front sides of your car? they go from that to clear like in my sig, orange looks bad with a lot of colors so the clear looks better.
There needs to be an amber corner light, plus an amber REFLECTOR. Clear corners don't reflect amber. You can put amber bulbs in them all day long and it won't make them "legal". Many new cars have clear lenses for turn signals and corner lights, this is true, but if you look, they all come with an amber reflector somewhere. Sometimes it's integrated into the headlight housing (most common), sometime it's not a light, but just a reflector on the bumper (some BMWs) and sometimes it's a stand alone light+reflector (like the RX-8, Porsches, etc). This is a Federal regulation for vehicles to be sold in the US.
