City Mileage

Hey guys (which includes ladies), I've only got a little over 2,000 miles on my 05 8. The last tankful of gas was pretty much all city driving...and it looks like I got 19 mpg. How does that compare with your city mileage? There's a lot of stop and go and some hills in my town.

19 is excellent.

Most people will get 15 - 18 range in city. 16 - 21 highway.

I average 16-17 in mostly city driving of my 2004 RX-8 (5/03 build). I would kill to get 19 around town.

nobody ever got 16 for highway mpg. you dont calculate highway mpg sittign in traffic for half a tank- thats city mpg. pushing our cars extremely hard on the highway in Cali 4 of us at speeds exceeding 100mph for extended periods barely got the cars down to 19-20mpg. no one doing regular highway trips at speed limits ever got under that. period

18.5-19 mpg city, driving conservatively most of the time.

I haven't yet taken her on a road trip, so I don't know what my highway mileage would be.

11 to 12 mpg city while driving normal to slightly aggressive.

But this is normal according to Mazda.

There is a poll in the lounge for City mileage, check it out and add to it.

Agreed, this is BS. People consistently report a wide range of city gas mileage from a low as 9 to as high as 19, so saying 11-12 is "normal" is just not reality.

As stated earlier I get 15-16. I can push that 1-2 mpg either way by changing driving style but I don't think I can do anything that will get my 8 to average 11-12. OTOH, there is also nothing I can do the get 18 mpg around town either.

Its like it varys from car to car, just like rear wheel HP.

All I know is I was prepared to take it in the shorts in the first week I had my car (2006 Shinka) but I ended up getting around 300 miles out of the first tank, which was a pleasant surprise.

We should all be so lucky...

Anytime you get ANYTHING over the stated MPG in this car, it's a moment to savor.

All city. All the time. All traffic (0-55 mph stop and constant go). 15 MPG. I get right at 200 miles to the tank.

I get about 17mpg and I'm about 50/50 city/highway. I've noticed on spirited car club drives that my mileage is equal if not better than my daily driving.

I love this car
