I got my windows tinted this week. Also ordered the clear corners.
My wife bought me the Ice Link for my 3rd generation iPod! I can't wait until I get that installed.

My window tinting:
I had the max leagal tint for NC installed Premium tint with a hint of reflective film to it. 35% light transmission. $177 bucks installed!
Triad Sun Control in Winston-Salem rocks!

I also got one of the Mr. Clean Auto Dry from my son. I know that I've seen mixed reviews of this product, so I am reserving judgement until I use it a time or two.

I bought this last fall, but I never got around to trying it out. Everything that I have read about it has been positive. The water around here is so hard, I am looking forward to trying it out.

What did I get for my 8 for Christmas?

Well there was the...

And the...

Ok, I got a bottle of touch up paint when I took my car in for it's 5000 mile service.

The service guy threw in a Mazda key ring and an RX-8 refrigerator magnet if that counts. :D

I got the Mr Clean back in August. It does a good job. The filter that you use in it needs to be changed every 3 or 4 washes, depending on how bad the water is. I still find some places that have to be dried off. Mainly the front and back bumpers since they are plastic. The filter I used last time I washed it, was turning brown. I used it anyway because I didn't have a replacement. It spotted of course. The filters aren't cheap. But I do enjoy using it.

In addition to the expected rotary accents, floor mats and RX-8 pen (boy is that one cheap), I scored an unexpected Kinsmart 1/36 model RX-8. The gray color is non-metalic and all wrong, the steering wheel is on the wrong side and there are no strakes, but I love it. I'm very grateful for a family that has been most forgiving of my self-indulgent hobby.

There's not much left that I want for this car... the aluminum pedals are too expensive to be justified, so they been written off my list, as is the '05 key -- it's just a novelty. I'd like to get the NAV upgraded to the latest firmware, but I'm unwilling to mail the unit to California for the necessary work. I'd also like to get my iPod integrated into the steering column, but the AUXMOD is never *really* going to ship, so that's out. SIRIUS radio would also be great, but my head unit won't accept XM, let alone SIRIUS.

I now consider my car a completed project. It's certainly been a blast getting here since I first saw the RX-8 Ad in Wired Magazine, Sept. '03.

Merry Christmas!
