Chassis code is SE3P, not FE?

I was browsing around the Tokyo Motor Show website and it lists the RX8 as an SE3P, not FE as we see here in North America. Is the chassis code different here?

No, the chassis code is still SE3P. This should not be confused with the model designation in the VIN, which is FE.

GRRR!!! KEECH SMASH!!!

anyhoo, the thing is that the chassis codes are SE3P in Japan (and i suppose all other RHD markets), whereas for the LHD North American cars the chassis code is FE3P...

it's the same deal with first gen RX-7's... some (the early ones, i think) were all one thing with an S in it (can't remember, tired from working out... still at school too :p), and the other ones were FB-whatever...

hahaha... y'know, i've had so many iterations of pronunciation and spelling on my name, but i think i like mikeb's version the best...

wah-cheek!! hahaha... it's not "wacky" (some guy kept forgetting the "ch"), and it's not "wakeech" like T-Man says his bird says (budgie or something, right?? :p)... it was origionally intended as W.A.Keech (for william andrew keech), with my laziness embodied in the caps-and-puncutationless form... but as time's gone on, i'm kinda partial to the (who was it that said this first??) "waka-waka-wakeech!!"

btw B-Nez, how are your precious lil' angels doin'?? how are they likin' daddy's new toy?? (i can hear them now... "faster daddy, faster!! make the tyres speak some more!!" )

It appears the JDM RX-8 has a chassis code of SE3P while export cars are FE etc etc.

Here down under, the (overpriced) RX-8's are prefixed <b>FE</b> & are basically the same as the JDM versions (rhd)
