CEL in winter?

hi guys, i just drove my car and i got cell. i didn't do anything to my car, and it just suddenly like that. last time i drove was yesterday at 1.20 am, after that i didn't touch my car until 7.30 pm. yesterday my car was perfectly fine but today the CEL is on. i tried to drive my car and didn't notice any difference, tried to redline it, it's just normal. the only difference for today is the temp is getting low lately. you guys have any guess?

edit: btw this is the first i got cel. oil and engine temp are normal
edit: i did do wot 3-4 times a couple days ago just to test my car performance. do you think that will cause cel? i also tried to reset the ecu by pushing the break pedal until the oil needle swap to the left again.

Are you sure it's the check engine light and not the tire pressure monitoring system light? Colder temps will cause the tire pressure to drop and maybe that's the problem?

Did this happen just after adding fuel? If so, the CEL may be related to a non-sealing gas cap. Check that out and if that is the cause, the CEL will go out after a few start cycles. If not. you'll have to read the error code and act accordingly to correct the problem.

Obviously, the dealer can pull the codes as can some auto parts stores. But a CAN-compatible OBDII scanner is required and some auto parts places may not have that kind of scanner. Of course as suggested, the Hymee sCANanalyser (or a Harrison scanner) can pull most of the codes, but you would have to purchase one of those units.

seems like i have to bring my car to dealer. i did tried to recap the gas, and unplug the battery this early morning. it seemed ok at first. but after went driving a little bit, shut off the car, went out again for lunch, shut off. turn on again, went to the school, shut off. went back home, before i shut off my car, the cel is there. so damn weird.

Could be something as simple as a bad gas cap, but you won't know until you determine the error code(s). Best to take it to a dealer if it's still under warranty.

hi guys, my dealer just told me it's evaporation problem like what you guys guessed. they said they were going to replaced my detector. But I'm kind of doubt about that.
When I checked my car, the cap was loose. I did recap my the gas tank, after that i reset the ecu by disconnecting the battery for couple minutes.
after i reset it, the cel goes away. after few driving it sticked out again. So I was guessing there is no problem with the detector, the problem might be on the cap. what do you guys think?
