NS CEL popped no reason - car runs fine?

Hello All; this is my first post so here goes!

Bought a 2004 6MT 6 months ago (11,900Km on it) and car has been fine since other than my DRL solenoid acting up here and there. Yesterday I had my oil changed for the second time since obtaining the car (now at 22,900Km) and an hour later after full fuel fill up (91 octane) my check engine light popped on.

Car starts fine, gas cap on as tight as I can make it, car has lots of power and does not misfire. I have read a few things on the forum and would like to start excluding as many possibilities as possible so I can help the dealer diagnose the issue.

-Car must be restarted 10+ times to clear the CEL from the gas cap being "loose". (I think I am on 4th restart now with light still on)
-MAF could be dirty/toast (have not checked this yet).
-Misfire from poorly seated/worn ignition wires/plugs (have not checked this yet).

Now as a side note (this is gonna sound silly) I had noticed a few months back as I looked my beauty of a car over that I could hear what sounded to me like a small electrical short from the top of the engine; kind of where the alternator sits. When the car is not running and the ignition is set to the on position I can hear a faint electrical clicking almost like radio static. Any input would be appreciated and the harder you roast me the better off I will be in future posts!

Cheers!

Hello Spoolin; I called autozone and left a message to have them call me back. How much do they typically charge to read codes?

autozone is free...if it wasa misfire the CEL would have blinkeed. If it came on right after u filled up either u didnt tighten it enough or your gas cap seal is going bad..(mine did the same thing) take it to autozone and read the code if it is and EVAP leak small or very small probalby the cap and should take it to the dealer if it's still in warranty(even though they would not warranty mine so I had to go buy one and the CEL went away for good)

Thumbs up

Hey guys; just left autozone with you guessed it - EVAP leak. Dude reset the CEL and it hasn't come on since. I am pretty sure I am under warranty at 23,000km on my '04 RX. I will have mazda replace the cap

I can't believe that will trigger my CEL..
