It is an RX-8 during the clip on MTV for Jamie Kennedy's new show. "Blowin' Up" or whatever. When the car rolls by for about 1 second. It is an RX-8. It's some crazy orange metallic paint job, but I have seen it enough times and I am convinced it's an RX-8.

Um, why pick an RX8 when it looks just as much like a S2000 in the front?
The only reasons it looks like an 8 are the headlights and the "mouth", both of which the S2K has too (though the 8 looks like it's smiling while the S2K doesn't).

Ike's picture from the side convinced me the lead animator must drive an RX-8. 
The headlights and the rails on the roof are compelling - the shape of the side windows adds to the case. None of the pics I've seen show visible doors so it's hard to be certain if it was intended to be a 2 door S2000 or 4 door RX-8, but I could side with REL_RX8 on this.
I wouldn't get hung up on the NASCAR idea either - notice the blue car on the right - that's no NASCAR.

IMHO, the front end in the picture of the movie car by itself strongly resembles the '8, especially in the fenders... A little less so in the pic with the two other cars, and not at all from the side.
