Carfax hack
So, just discovered how to get free Carfax reports.
Go to a website that features used car listings - my favorite is Cars.com. Find a car that has a "get a free Carfax report on this vehicle" (there are many). Click to get that car's Carfax report. Bookmark the link. The last string of characters in the URL is the VIN of the car you're checking. Then, when you want to run a carfax, just substitute in the VIN of the car you're checking and Voila - free report. Stickin' to the man! |
lol thats awesome... I will have to try this out soon!
|
I tried that before and it didn't work for me. I must have messed something up.
|
nice, I need to try this
|
Well, maybe this is a "not so much" here ... it worked twice and now it's not working for me ... wonder if there's a limitation on it or something. Hmmm
|
lol.. you think it is that easy?..
the reason it worked for you those 2 times is because it just so happens that cars.com sponsors the carfax report for those 2 cars.. that means that the VIN you pasted into the url the second time around is already freely available elsewhere.. |
^Yes. I got a free car fax when I got my car and I did not even have to ask for it. They did it for me :)

I think that it is possible that both vin's were already loaded into carfax to b free
p.s. the advertisement on thsi page is hilarious it's carfax haha...(ok maybe it's just funny in my own world with the help of some beers) |
I clicked a "Get a free carfax report on this mazda" on autotrader for an RX8. Gave me nothing but "Search Results: 7 records found in our database". Doesn't even say what those records are.... Useless.
|
Completely useless.
|
Why do nobody on rx8clubs like to do business with Carfax?
"Please run this vin" and "Please do this and that". Any reason all rotary drivers do not like Carfax? |
