Carbon fiber

so, is carbon fiber a waste even tho it's that much lighter? i'm thinkin about getting a cf hood for my 04 nordic green rx 8 GT. what do you advise people?

i saw this really nice hood for like 500 or so. i just want to know from everyone's perspective.

you don't get real CF panels for your car. You get crap CF on top of fiberglass. And it usually weighs quite a bit more than the OEM panel.

only reason I have a CF hood is because it's vented. Otherwise I'd have stayed stock.

yea that's the second reason i was going to look at getting one. do they make "real" CF hoods?

if you get into an accident the hood might cut off your head.

The RX-8 hood is aluminum--so its light already. You'll do much better to lose some weight off your body.

My Seibon CF hood weights exactly 1-lbs less than the stock OEM aluminum hood. I only got it because it's vented

my cf trunk weighs 6 lbs vs regular trunk with wing which weighs like 30 lbs or some shyt...haha

Ask William Wallace. Don't forget to scream "Freedom!".

Personally CF hood is ghey. Our Aluminium hood already weigh quite light. so there's no significant weight saving if any. One should consider CF roof like the M6. The lower weight will help with centre of gravity.

with this car, weight isn't a HUGE issue so most people usually just get it for looks, as i will. its kind of like an exhaust, you will pay 500-1500 bucks just for the SOUND, although it will bearly give you any hp.

it does look pretty freakin awesome tho. because its vented, will i actually cool the engine and everything that much?
