Car seat for Child

Hello Folks,

I am thinking about buying an RX-8 and there is one thing holding me back. I have a young child (still in a car seat) and I need space to fit her in any car I buy. I currently have an 06 Civic Si and its tight but the seat fits fine in the backseat.

I was looking at a buddy of mines RX-8 and I noticed that my car seat for my daughter would not fit in the back because of the pillar in between the 2 seats in the back. Wondering if there are any parents out there that had troubles getting a car seat in the back and what did you do.

1. welcome to the RX8club, glad to hear you're considering buying an RX-8.

as for your questions: can't help you with any input as no child seat will ever see the inside of my RX-8 but others here have had that same question and discussed it.

Here's a quick tip:
Try using our search feature and you'll find tons of threads.

Once they are forward facing it's a breeze. Obviously they can't be set up in the middle but there is a latch system on each side in the back seats.

Unless it's a 4 door Civic, I'd say it will be easier in the 8 with the rear door.

There are definitely plenty of threads on the subject to help you decide. This one is one of the better ones with discussion / photos / etc.

I've had a very hard time finding booster seats with just the base for older kids to fit in my RX-8. My son is outgrowing the full booster seat that has a narrow enough base to fit in the bucket seats (front or back), and every base-only booster seat I've looked at is too wide. Not sure what I'm going to do. Fortunately, this car is not my daily driver.

Oh man. I want one of those.

*drool*

I've got a GRACO 3-in-1 seat that fits fine in the forward facing configuration.

I have a 9 year old. Im on my second 8 and have had one since 05 when he was 4. The issues that i have encountered are that in the back, the seat is a little narrow. You have to find the right seat so it fits well. Mine is red and black with grey plastic. It matches.

Now, and for the past year, he has sat in the front in the booster because he cant see since the seat sits so low. Its also red and black. You know... it has to match.

When I got my 8 my daughters booster didn't fit in the back. I ended up getting a Graco booster that had a narrower base and matched the interior of the car.
