Car Got Hit

I had a rude awakening by SDPD at 6am this morning. Actually I didn't answer the door but when I went 30 minutes later there was a note with an incident number. Apparently my legally parked car had been hit out on the street and was being towed. Sure enough as I sprinted down the street I saw a flatbed towing my baby away.

I asked the kid at the 7-11 where I was parked next to on the street and he said a truck hit another car which hit mine.

Say a prayer for my baby. I don't know how bad the damage is (or why it was towed if still legally parked), and I can't even spare the time to go see it at the moment because I have to get to a 9am flight at Lindberg Field to fly to SF and see the Patriots beat the 49ers.

Wish eternal damnation for the likely drunk driver responsible.

that sucks but it sounds like at the very least you have the person responsible for it.

I don't understand what gives them the right to tow the car away?

HOPE THEY HAD INSURANCE!!!!!!!

Here's a pic I took at the closed lot coming back from the airport. Sorry about the poor quality. Hard to take a good picture at night through a chain link fence. Rear bumper cover looks like it got pull completely off and the rear window is shattered. Can't tell any more at night without getting in there.

I'm going to pick up a copy of the police report in the AM after I get my rental car (thanks to Geico for already having one reserved for me)so I WILL find out and certainly the cops know.

I also have to stop by the car and grab some items out of it for both safekeeping and for day to day use. This is just a nightmare. Hopefully I won't have to kill someone.

look at the bright side. at least you weren't in or anywhere around it when it got hit. and if the damage is bad enough, you get a new car out of it!

hope that kinda sorta maybe helps

No, I don't get a new car I get a check. I want a new car I need to take out a loan. And snag as many aftermarket parts off the old car as the adjuster will let me take.

Pictures I took at the lot this morning. Looks like the rear window (FYI to adjuster, I need any replacement tinted), bumper cover clear off, right strut is bent, need new rims but not tires, the trunk and spoiler need replacing, and the metal on corner of the driver's read side looks like its been pushed in. No airbag deployed. I'm at work, but there is a picture of the passenger side wheel tilted at an angle which is I'm guessing because the car was stationary and pushed into the curb and the force was absorbed by the strut and it bent.

Pisses me off.
Wouldn't it be nice if there was regulation to have vin numbers embossed on certain body panels with a high probably of collision? This way, perps can leave imprints during collisions, a la fingerprints. Just a random thought.

Sorry about your car dude.

Thumbs down

Looks like you might want to check for interior damage as well, since it looks like they (tow truck driver?) shoved the bumper cover through the rear window.

Didn't see anything that jumped out at me other than the factory radio being jarred out of its slot. Trust me IF this car doesn't get totalled, it will look brand new after being fixed.

Down side of it being totalled if it is, is I already sold the black steering wheel I replaced with red/black, and paid $300 last week for ding service. Ugh.

Somehow getting the Mazsport coils and plug wires, REVI intake, and lord knows what else I can get my hands on will be difficult. I can kiss the full MS suspension, RB intake scoop, upgraded brakes, and dual MS exhaust goodbye. At least I still have the original black door panels so I can yank the red/black panels.

Getting the stereo system out can be done but a PITA.

Looking at the pictures, they better total ur car.

Forget about the suspension, brakes, stereo system, and MS exhaust.

u can probably take those coils, plug wires, REvi intake, and the ram air back.

at least u can probably reuse them on ur new ride
