sorry i didnt seach this, i just need help asap, im trying to hook up the canzoomer to my laptop, but when i try to run the program it says that it cant comunicate with the unit, now, does it hook up to the laptop just with the cable, or do i need the canscan for it to work, thanks for ur help

 

k, thats fixed now, but now i get a communication error, check the connection...i check the conections and everything is fine.......

now i dot, and now my usb cable is broken, i heard is not a normal usb cable, but u think i can find something that works at a computer store?

 

I believe it is a Serial to USB cable. You will also need a Serial to USB converter driver for your laptop. Let me see if I can dig my old ones up and PM you. I'm at work now so it wouldn't be until this evening.

I found the USB drivers for the Canzoomer software to talk to the box, but to get them to you I'll have to email you. It's several files of about 2 megs.

Ok, for anyone else looking, Yes. The cable for the Canzoomer box is special. Greddy made the box so thatb it puts out a serial signal but gave it a USB port to make it harder for people to pirate their software. Canzoomer has the cable made special to convert the signal to USB inside the cable. Thats what the little circuit board in the end does. If yours is bad, you'll have to order another one from Canzoomer.
