CANScan™ Mazda RX-8 Enhanced Data Software
I just found out about this when I visited Dan's website. Has anyone used this yet? The webpage about it doesn't explain much what it does, but I wouldn't mind playing with it if it works on my unit.

Bummed, but bring on OU!
"Scanning solution - The CANScan-USB with RX8 Enhanced Data Viewer is packaged with all necessary hardware and software to provide you with the same data that only factory technicians had access to. Go beyond OBD-II diagnostics with over 200 additional data items including fuel injector pulse width, knock sensor, transmission fluid temp, tire pressure/temperature and many more."
Sounds pretty good to me.

Does this let you modify any settings? Or do you have to upgrade to a fully programmable ECU? If you do buy the hardware, will this software let you modify settings? Or is it only for reading stuff and resetting the check engine light?

Dan emailed me and said they are working on a version that works with the Serial CANscans. And what's with this Scanalyzer hardon people are getting? Members here barely experience it and it's already declared a winner? This reminds me of that Ric Shaw ECU issue. People keep raving about it yet there isn't really anything concrete to say about. People here barely had real hands-on experience with it.
Nothing wrong with Hymee and Ric Shaw, in fact I consider them some of my RX-8 heroes , but people really need to be more critical about product comparisons here. Different doesn't necessarily mean "better." There's a reason why more people use certain products more than others...
