There's many boosted threads, please search.

It's just a waste of time to answer the same question 50 times.

I in fact have many times referred people to various car forums, and my good friends at google. If you had searched, or even clicked on the Major Horsepower section, you would have noticed that we do, in fact, have 1 thread which shows all those who are boosted, and contains great information for noobs like you....
but you didnt search
and are now sentenced to a lifetime of ignorance on the subject... or 20 seconds of searching. You pick.

I've not really heard any complaints from people who have boosted. I've had turbo RX-7's before, and they are indeed a blast to drive. With the right turbo and tune, they go like stink with minimal boost lag. For the 8, I've been going back and forth what I'd rather do, SC or TC..and for some reason, I keep coming around to SC. The Major Horsepower Section will give you all sorts of information on FI'd 8's. I'd say stop in there and look around a bit.

If you can afford it, and possibly the consequences of said modification then it is worth the fun. If you can't afford it, then maybe you shouldn't upgrade.

simple answer

Normally I would rip up a newbie asking questions about turbocharging the car without reading the stickies etc, but really guys the question he is asking is somewhat new. Most of the sticked posts etc don't really talk about how much we actually enjoy the car. We tend to talk more about the technical difficulties, tuning, and such than the visceral enjoyment we get.

That being said... I fell in love with the car all over again once it was turbocharged. Every time the car gets closer to its final setup it gets even closer to the ideal car for me. It takes everything I loved about the car and makes it more powerful, more visceral, more raw. My car is pretty uncivilized now, it shoots fire like crazy, is loud as hell, and the power out of the corners is perfect. Its a really unique fast and fun car and I'm not done modding it yet.

The difference is night and day. There is nothing like driving a boosted 8. Really you will have to drive one yourself to understand. It's that good!
I never lost any love for the 8 even when I was NA really. Adding FI to it just amplified it. A lot.

However, there are more headaches and concerncs that come with boosting an 8. Now that you can search for.

Also, might I add...those who posted negatively in this thread was really uncalled for. It's not like he was asking if a supercharger or turbo was better. If he did, well I probably would have joined in the newbie flaming.
I think what bothers me the most is none of the ones that flamed the OP are even boosted. Sad.

I always needed to mod to keep myself interested in the car. FI was the latest major mod I've done and I love it. It's been a year in the making and even though I want to mod other aspects still, the turbo has kept me interested longer than any of my other mods.

A lot of the people who are outspoken about FI RX-8s have never even been in one let alone owned one.

lmao, well judging by the responses in this thread, it seems the clear and obvious answer is if you are turbo'd you are generally happier and less willing to flame a noob.

only the NA folks went psycho and told the original poster to search, the turbo folks commented nicely and on topic

anyways, i love my 8 and love it even more now that it is turbo'd. its just so much fun and like blackened says its more raw and visceral and louuud, i love it.

I dont get it. Your post didnt mention anything that a 2 year old couldnt figure out for himself. OBVIOUSLY an FI 8 is more enjoyable than an NA 8. Im sure it is like night and day. Obviously you will run into more problems FI than NA.

Im not aiming this at you Jon Im reiterating the earlier posts that refer the OP to the Major HP Upgrade section. OP if you need reaasurance that going FI will make you love your car more then I stand corrected, and therefore apologize for being brutally honest.

Um... actually I wouldn't say that it is "obvious" per se. The question the OP was asking is if the trouble and effort is worth it. Does it really make the car more enjoyable? It's something not a lot of people have asked actually. The perception is that "yes, its definitely worth it", but its a lot of work and I'm sure there are people with FI RX-8s who found the work and problems to outweigh the enjoyment of the car with a turbo/sc.

Also, I don't see what the point of your post is? You haven't contributed anything to this thread, and there isn't a point in flaming when the thread is otherwise on topic.

Truth. You forget how the thing behaved when it was N/A.
You get into an N/A car expecting something completely different than what it delivers and I'm not just talking about power.

That is true in almost ALL aspects of the various arguments about FI. Almost everyone argues from a point of ignorance into an area of generality.

Funny how that works, isn't it?

In any event, it is true - the OP asked (in a somewhat general and slightly awkward way) a question that has never had a pure answer or thread dedicated to it.

An FI RX-8 is a unique animal and people that own one (that is properly tuned and running well) understand.
I'm not one to offer anthropomorphisms about a car, but an FI RX-8 has an elusive character that only someone who has one can understand - even if you have driven FDs or something similar.

the best way to explain it is

Having a N/A RX8 is like being 20 forever. Sure, your out of puberty and not a teen but you will never be 21 no matter what type of shoes. clothes, or exhaust you buy.

Where as a boosted 8 is like being 21... Your always trashed and its F^*$ING AWESOME!!!!
