Bumper doesnt really fit.
When i first got the car, the front bumper was on fine, the space between the hood and the front bumper was very small (around 1/8 inch) and where it connected to the side fenders was snug too. I installed the revi yesterday, and today i looked at my bumper. Well, i noticed the place where it connects to the side fender is not as tight as it was, and is sticking out just a bit. The space between the hood and the front bumper is how at least 1/4 to 3/8 inches big. Did anyone else encounter this problem when they took off their bumper? Does anyone else have these big gaps in general?
By the way, i had to take off the bumper 2 times when i installed the revi, because i forgot to put in bolts on the revi. Maybe the bumper is out of shape???
How can i fix this problem???? Please help

I had that same concern awhile back.https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...1&page=3&pp=15 (post #42) Dealer says it's not adjustable but not sure what would cause the additional gap between the hood and bumper. I'm going to install the oil cooler guards next week so I'm hoping I can get a little of the gap reduced.

I know this statement is useless without pics, but I believe there are some small locators that "snap" the bumper back into place at both ends. Perhaps if these are not fully seated the fit of the bumper will not be right. When you take your bumper off again, try to look for that. Just a guess.

I'm not sure pics would help unless before and after with a ruler. I installed the AC screen and oil cooler screens from RB, and after I was done, it appears that the gap is indeed wider. I can't be sure as I didn't measure it before. However, the plastic screw thingys and the two white plastic alignment pegs line up in the bumper, as does everything else...it just seems a little off, strange. Maybe someone should measure the gap before and after a first install of anything and let us know.

I just finished re-adjusting the bumper. I took off the plastic black cover with 6 clips in it. Then under it, i loosened the 4 metal nuts. With some strength i pushed the bumper up and forward towards the car. While keeping the bumper pushed in, i tightened the nuts. After i finished the bumper was at least 1/8 in closer to the hood. It may still be worse than when i originally got the car, but its definitely better than yesterday.

bumpers
my drivers side rear bumper does not fit where is meet the quarter panel. it sticks out about 1/8". i sell bumpers for a living (www.bumperauto.com ) . most oem factory bumper do not fit that well. honda and bmw are the best. GM, ford, nissan (altima) and chrsylers are always a little off(check a vette bumper and get out your surf board, they are the absolute worst). there are many reasons for this. the huge problem is selling an aftermarket bumper that fits just a good. the customer has a fit because it is not "perfect". well, the original was far from perfect. i am being as honest as possible when i say if you want a perfect fitting car you have to pay a lot of money for it. i think the RX8 is a little above average in fit and finish. joe

It still sticks out a bit (1/16th inch about) on the sides, and the hood got a lot better. Oh well, the gap well just make me hear the revi under the hood better. :D

I noticed the same thing after removing and replacing mine 2x. I think that part of it is the fact that all of the "locators" on the bumper and the body are plastic. After popping off and on a couple of times things get stretched out a bit. When I have a chance, I am going to shim under the bolts at the front edge of the hood to tighten the clearance.
Be careful how hard you push on the bumper. I pushed mine a little hard to try to correct the gap and now I have a slight distortion in the reflection. I'm the only one that can see it but it is there.

Check this out. I had mine off to install screens and when I put it back on one side was off. I realized that I didn't line up the tabs, or whatever, correctly. Loosen it and just push them back in.
