Knowing that both the new facelifted 8 is being released and the 16x later on in the decade makes me feel like my car's outdated.

unless your a Mazda Engineer, specs on the 16x can change I'm more annoyed of the additional 2 oil injectors in the 09+ and i've only had my 8 for 7 months. On a bright side, obdscan.net is releasing an app to reflash the PCM. Since emmissions in my situation takes 2nd place to engine stability, hopefully the gui will be simplified to modify OMP flow control.

afaik, "this" engine is not "tuner"-friendly. that is why i am not as "bummed" at the moment.

in the first place if i wanted an engine that can be tuned to perfection, i could have gotten a 4G63-powered granny car to the tune of Vishnu.
of course that car costs 10 grand more.. but that may also be the same case for the 16x. oh bummer

ohhhh.... i had a Galant VR-4 once.... I traded it in at 180k miles, Granny car? :P i like to think "Ultimate Sleeper", it was fun letting s2k,is300,wrx and a couple v8's know they couldn't pull away. good times...

And back on topic, bah... this car has been in production nearing 6 years, so it has met it's life cycle. Unless your a VW BUG or a 3rd gen Honda Integra, most cars get a life cycle change every 6 years. So the Mazda Japan board members did a good job pulling a rabbit out of a hat to get this to go production with the sole focus of a fun driving experience in mind.

Any buyer that looks past the aesthetics when they by this car, generally look at comparative reviews.... in the majority of those in the USA (CAR & DRIVER, Motor Trend) they reviewed the 8 as wishing it had more power... but was still favored over alot of 'comparative' auto makers based on driving experience when getting behind the wheel.

So this is a car for people who get bored driving in a straight line... end o message

./insert oh yeah, and lets the driver enjoy all the pain in the *** moments of an exotic car... you don't here Porche, Mercedes, Lamborghini, Bugatti owners complaining of their quarks mainly because they don't have to worry about the repairs financially, hell Mercedes is in the lemon light in the last 3 years due to the 'recalls' there higher end models get due to electronic issues if you check Consumer Reports..

ye but with most other cars its usually just asthetic that are changed, maybe 5-20 HP. witht he 16x its gonna be more power, more importantly more torque! and better gas milage, which in my opinion was needed the most. its gonna make the current rx8 look outdated

Outdated? We prefer to say "classic."
