Broken hose?

Broken hose?

god darnit.... Maybe i should have taken it to the shop. Im replacing the coils now but man I broke some kind of clip for one of the hoses. It goes into the accordian it is the most bottom clip. It was sideways and to pull it out I bent it too much (its my first time). Its only the clip thats broke but I really dont know what to do.... Has any one done this what should I do now??? Do I have to get it towed and service or is there any easy fix for this....?

That L shape thing breaks easily, u can get another one at dealership, just tell them to look at the air cleaner part of fsm. It cost like 7 to 10 bux

Is there any kind of short-term temporary fix for this? I actually was able to start the car up (because I just wanted to test the new starter/battery), but I am sure its not great for the car. Is there any kind of fix I can do for this temporarily? I need to go on a road trip Thursday and its doubtful the part will be in by then. Itll basically be 2.5 hours of highway driving. I really dont even know what that hose is for. Any one have this issue before or know a short term fix for it?

think of it as a connector. just connect the soft rubber hose into the intake tube.

without it, you will have a HUGE vacuum leak, not only will your ECU goes crazy (cuz it will have a hard time adjusting the correct AF ratio), if u leave it alone, it will suck quite a lot of dust into your engine.

Well, if u have some high temp glue u can glue it up, then use some high temp tape and warp 20 layers on the broken part. but it's really a temporary solution.

most Mazda dealer should be able to get a part in a day, cuz they almost always overnight their **** (cuz their service department needs a lot of parts), adding your 0.1 lbs of part will not increase their shipping cost.

thank you. I actually started it up a few times just to make sure my new battery/starter were working, and it was great on the first startup. Then once I turned it off after about 5-7 minutes I said I'd leave it alone till I could replace the part. Well I had to start it back up again just to move it, and it took like 10-12 seconds to start, and then the CEL came on with a code of "system too lean". Im assuming thats because of the hose being disconnected, so I'll wait for the correct part to come in. I dont want to hurt the engine.

By the way.... not to troll for replies or anything but... (and I know its a stupid question im sorry). Are either of these two ways the correct way to put a shifter boot on? It has a snap on the top of it which seems odd if folded down, and goes over the bottom of the shifter if left unfolded. Is there a small secret to these or something I'm missing?

yep had this same problem broke the plastic nipple that slides into the accordian tube..dealer did not have it in stock. It is a $8 part..got it in half a day..Good luck.

Like I said, u will get a HUGE vacuum leak that's why you get the System too lean code (it could mean a lot of things too, but HUGE Vacuum leak is the major cause)

Just wait for the part to come. should take no longer than a day.

you can install it whatever you want. if u don't want to see the button just face it forward.

Thanks all. I am pretty darn happy with the results from new wires/coils/plugs/starter.

It works great!

But I've never been more scared than when It took 10-12 seconds to start it yesterday lol. I will never drive/start it without everything 100% connected/ready to go again.
