Bridged + Tuned =Loving It!

I did not come here to brag , but to let you guys now my update from my February rebuild of the motor. In February of this year my car at 170k(brought the car brand new in January 05) , the motor finally died and would not turn over , a few loud back fires on start up and I knew it was end of the road for my 8. So rather than buying a new motor I rebuilt mine instead. Atkins rebuild kit, new housings, etc.

Had Louie "Primo Mazda" Morales rebuild the motor. He bridged it , but not your typical bridge was done to my Renesis motor, an alternative bridge was done . Long story short the alternative bridge ported motor worked! After so many that doubted me on this board.
7,000 miles later she is still going strong and is more powerful than ever thanks to MazdaManiacs tune from the Cob Accessport, and BHR's for supplying me with the Walbro 255 fuel pump.

The car is running so good now, Mazdamaniac calculated that my car is flowing 30% stronger than the strongest N/A RX-8 he has ever tuned. Headers come at the end of this month, with a dyno run to come next month or early August.

I have nothing but respect for Louie, who's knowledge with rotaries is invaluable, Charles from BHR who is a great guy and is a strait shooter and Jeff aka MM who is truly the man and brains for tuning my baby.

All i can say to ones who doubted me , there is more than one way to skin a cat or in my case, to bridge port a rotary.

The ball keeps rolling as were on map 6 of the tuning process. It keeps getting better all the time! The car feels great, revs after 4k- to redline is insanely responsive and fast, shooting flames on the regular now, and loving the braaap , braaap sound!

Take care guys and never give up your endeavors to get more power out of the 8's, it can be done....

ZOOM-ZOOM ....Forever!

Good job! Can't wait to see your dyno! Can you list the things you have done so far and a bit more info on the alternative bridge?

I'm glad this worked out but the proof is in the pudding.

I can show you the build that was done on my car.
https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...dailydriver2k5

Out of respect of the builder I can't show the bridge. Not trying to be difficult but the alternative bridge is something that only few rotary builders know how to do.Alot of rotary builders have there "secrets" come to find out and don't like to share the wealth. Its been done since the 70's for guys who did not want to go with a traditional bridgeport since a bridge port can cause major heating issues , etc. Yet those who wanted to get more power out of there car without the issues went this route.

Here is my car after the rebuild , stage 1 map, running stock fuel pump. I'll take another video of it soon.

You posted pics of it before. So it's been used since the 70's but now it's a big secret?

6~7 holes to the side of the primary and secondaries... May as well done a full bridge. Mine has 14,000 miles on it, and no problems. I only have the secondaries bridged, but BDC is doing both now.

It will never happen, you don't have the clearance for that.

Generally considered a really bad idea. At least from what I have read on the rx7 club site.

I wouldn't listen to everybody on forums. I read some of the stories as well, we know nothing of those guys motors, condition, what they did or didn't do. My builders 88 GTU with the same ports goes like stink, and even beat my car in stock form when my car was making decent compression. even switched cars and I walked my own RX-8. Alot depends on the builder, too. So many variables its not even funny.

I can only speak for my car, it works, no problems, and the power is there.

Yes, but once it's tuned, the "brap" is gone.
