Break Calipers Paint

I purchased 3 colors of break caliper paint and can't decide which color (Flat Black, Red and Silver) to use on my Silver/Black 8. Could you share some of you wheel shots so I can make a decision which way to go. I'm thinking Red. I've only seen two cars with paint where I live, a VW and a Lotus both with red. I've not seen any on a RX8.

Please don't confuse this thread with bad brakes! :)

If you use Black you cant tell if they are there or not. If you wont them to stand out use Red of Silver even Blue...

buy stencils from polak and do red with silver letters. IMO that would look hot

A quick search should have satisfied your query.

In my opinion, if you're using the stock wheels, silver looks flat on the calipers. One of the threads above, though, shows the silver brakes with different rims and I think they look good. Me, personally, I'm partial to red.

BTW, where in Georgia are you?

markd, your are right about the query. I found more info as well. If needed we can ditch this thread unless someone else wants to leave it up for new discussion.

I'm in the the Buford area. North of you. Work in Lawrenceville.

I just bought a black '05 and was considering yellow for the calipers with black lettering.

My Gallery has several different pictures of various color combos.

Hey PoLaK

Awesome work dude! I still didn't see the yellow w/black lettering, it sounds cool but still would like to see it first before I try it. BTW I emailed you about custom decals for my 8.

Red looks great on silver. Consider that your car has lots of red in the tail lights, so it's not like you're adding a brand new color to the vehicle.

I'm going with Purple...anyone with purple calipers? I didn't think so...this may be a gamble :)

I just bought a new set of jack stands tonight so I can do it all at once, problem is temp is dropping and that isn't going to work...looks like I'll be insulating the garage door before I do the caliper paint :(

I think I'd go with black with white stencil. Once you paint your calipers, how long does it last? You guys got me wanting to do all kinds of stuff I never thought of -- clear corners, painted calipers. Maybe a big ass wing on the back -- NOT.

with the duplicolor kit or any other paint it will burn off guaranteed, with the G2 paint it should last a long time since it is rated to 900 degrees while the others max at 500...now I've heard of people using G2 on the track with no problem but at the same time I know brakes can get well over 900 so I wonder what the longevity really is, I've got the G2 purple I think I'll put it on this weekend

Just try not to brake too much :D
