brakes turn the wheels?

I'm probably just paranoid about this, but I noticed recently that when I'm braking (mostly at low speeds coming to a stop) that my wheels turn to the left. Feels like the brakes might be pulling them to the left somehow... so is that because of uneven wear on the brakes? is there any problem with this or am I just worrying over nothing? Thanks for help

Could be a left brake caliper sticking. Also could be low tire pressure or uneven tire wear.

If the street youre driving on slants up in the middle, and you brake at low speeds the car will respond by pulling to the left..

Also, road rutts will cause the car to pull to one side when braking.

also shitty brakes will cause that too. what happens if you slam on the brakes fully at a faster speed?

I've noticed this too. It's not brake pads because I've changed pads and had the same behavior. Could be a caliper, but it's really odd that mine only does it (at least noticibly) at very slow speeds rolling up to a stop sign. I drive pretty spiritedly and don't have a problem with brake pull when braking harder. I also have changed my tires and am **** about tire pressure, so its not that. It's odd but hasn't bothered me enough to really concern myself with it yet.

I believe No Dice has it right. Most roads are "crowned" -- that is, higher in the middle -- so that water will run off to either side when it rains.

I have noticed that the slower I am going when I brake, the more the steering is touchy. If the road is uneven in the slightest, the steering wheel reacts more.

The faster I am going, the less an issue it becomes though!

Most cars have active steering assist which means that the power steering will assist you more at low speeds and slowly help less until about 45 mph where it shuts off completely and you are using a manual rack. I do not know if the Rx-8 has this but th eMazda Rx-7s that had power steering were this way. My car is a full manual rack so I can't say from first hand.

Your brakes sticking=you need new brakes. Your abs will kick in when you are going fast and this will not be as noticeable. I know this. I too need new brakes

Are you sure the car tracks straight?

Is it the begining sins of your alignment?

it's only at low speeds. it's happened on a few roads and couple I'm almost sure are flat or lean the other way slightly, it only pulls left, never felt it pulling right. I filled the tires up a couple weeks ago and had them all even. It doesnt happen all the time though... but I dont usually think about it unless I feel it so not too sure about frequency.
