The first day I got my 8 i loved it. but on the second day i had it when i was washing it, i noticed something on the back brake discs. there was rust..everywhere! it is unbelievable. that **** is all over the place and it looks like hell. is there any way to fix this cheaply? am i the only one or does this happen to all rx8 owners? wat would be the best, cheapest way to fix this? any ideas? the front discs are perfectly fine and not a trace of rust but the back ones...hideous. makes me shudder.. any suggestions?

This happens to me every time I wash the car. Once I take it for a spin the brake pads knock it all off. As far as the center of the rotors, I just bitched to the service manager at the dealership until they painted them "under warranty".

Now what to do about it. You can take it back to the dealer and request that they paint or replace them--they may or may not--or you can paint them yourself using high-temp paint like G2. If you do it yourelf, it will be a much more satisfying and longer-lasting solution, and you can use any color you like. While at it, why not paint the calipers as well. There's a DIY in the Tech section of the forum on painting your calipers. Here are a couple of pics of what I did.

until the day I die
Mine were replaced by my dealer (I complained about the constant squealing, actually) and the rust problem was gone, too. Still squeeks when cold, but that's expected.

Nice and clean. Everytime I see pics of clean rotors I get jealous.
