Hey guys I have been thinking of racing at the salt flats in September. Here is the web page
http://www.saltflats.com/index.html
I am going to get into the 130 MPH club this year if all goes well. Next year I want to get a cage and a few other requirements and go for the 150 club. I know the 130 will be a breeze but the 150 I am not sure if our car can break through, I think our top speed is 149 but I will give her hell trying.

Good luck.

Glad to see you're keeping it safe. I've gone much faster when I was younger and dumber :uhh:

184 is the limit but can only be done on a dyno. You can brake 150 regularly, but not by much without a hill.

What mods, if any, will you have to make to your RX8 to make an attempt at the 130 MPH club? The requirements for battery hold-down, driveline loops, metal wheel valve caps and dual throttle return springs caught my eye. Anything else? Skinny tires?

Man, wash the salt off, right away!

The loop is the only thing I might have to look into but It might not need it cause it also says ( Drive line loops are required in the front 25% of each section of drive shaft on rear-wheel cars where adequate retention and control of a broken driveline is not assured by body/frame design.)

So does anyone know if our cars need this loop? I dont think so but I was going to call them to ask.

I believe the loop on the forward part of the driveshaft is simply to prevent the car from pole vaulting if the front U-joint breaks. Without the loop, the driveshaft would dig into the ground and away you go! LOL!

I know of a 4port AT that has gone 153 mph.

non-turbo?

140 is easily hit and it still wants to climb past that... i think you should have no problem hitting 150. if you do, get a catless midpipe or some headers.

You can disable the MPH limiter.

Do a search and you will find out how.

for the manual? he wont be seeing 184 anyways... unless he has some rather large mods. and is 184 the redline in 6th? if that's the case, then it doesnt matter.
