is it a big poroblem if u using the wrong engine oil?

is it a big poroblem if u using the wrong engine oil?

i bought my rx8 in the use car dealer, and they were using the (Not mineral) engine oil becox at that time i don't know i have to use the mineral engine oil~and after i drive the car 2 months the problem was happen, the rev goes unstable after the engine is warm, and sometimes its very hard to start up the engine and it takes 3 or 4 times . and i wonder will that affect the performance and the engine still realiable???

The problems you are describing are most likely NOT the direct result of the type of oil you are using. You will need to determine the cause of the erratic engine rpm and hard starts. It could be nothing more than fouled spark plugs, but it could be something else entirely like low engine compression. Take the car to a competent mechanic that knows rotary engines and have it checked out. Good luck!

can u please tell me which engine oil is suitable for rx8?

The manual says 5W-20 should be used. I have heard of some dealerships putting in 5W-30...probably the oil change guy that does not know any better.

he's in New Zealand, the manual may not specify 5w20....

fcmountain, please check into YOUR owner's manual for oil specification for NZ....

128 Mazda in Massachusetts put 5w30 in mine and they didn't think it was a problem. The car seemed to run fine. I've put 5w20 in ever since though
