^ Interesting. Some of the posters here are the very folks Mazda targeted. Mazda just misjudged how many there would be.

Me been a supra fanatic and always loving the rx7, I always looked at the 8, and one of the factors why I bought the 8 was because the 4 seat.. I was looking into 350z but only two seats wasn't working out for me.. now I love my 8 and do not regret buying it!!

as it turns out, the back seats are a plus for me. i have grown to have a true appreciation for the practicality of the 8. i think the fact that i can have a true GT with a rotary engine to boot is awesome. despite it's significant flaws, i enjoy my 8 most days.

that said, i'd love to get an Elise/Exige someday! i really, REALLY dig those cars!

I'm not so sure they did. The RX-8 sold quite well over its life, I seem to recall. It's only in recent years that it's fallen off a cliff.

Lovely car. Engine feels just as spritely and smooth as I first drove it many years ago.
Rear door and seats made it scaleable now that I have 2 daughters. My RX-8 is a keeper.
