Smile Automatic MPG

I just had my first fillup in my automatic. I assume that the dealer put 93 octane in it, but they would not say so I am a little suspicious. Anyway it ran great, AC all the time since I live in Texas and I had roughly 40% highway and the rest city showing people the car. My MPG for the first fillup was 18.4 mpg. I'm not disappointed in that especially after having read some of the horror stories on the forum.

I know that Texian posted getting 28 mpg on his first fillup with almost all highway and has since averaged 23. Sounds like the A/T is getting pretty good mileage, but this is a small data sample. If you have an A/T, please reply with your experiences so far.

I have an automatic and my mileage has been shitty man because for now Ive only been driving in the city. There is alot of stop&go traffic everywhere I go and I dont think my Rx8 likes that. I also have been driving the car hard at first you know I love hearing the exhaust and showing off the car! I think the first two weeks Ii had something around 11 and 14 mpg I was driving pretty nuts. Now that I keep the RPM below 3000 all the time. I hate doing this you know but I think mycurrent tank is ending up closer to 18 at somewhere around 15 and 18 mpg. My car will reach 1000 miles this week so I hope things start getting better and I wont haev to drive like this anymore to get good mileage in the city!

I have filled up three times. Two weekend freeway trips and one week of city driving. I got 21.7MPG & 22.2MPG on the freeway. In the city I got 16.9MPG.
