The auto rx8

Has anybody driven the auto version of the rx8? Is it a slug? I can get one for about 22,800 brand new.

Its not a slug. 22,800 is a great deal. Most autos are selling for 25 plus.

it's not a slug, but it ain't no jackrabbit. As long as you don't mind 0-60 in 8 seconds.

No slug, but you are not going to win many 0-60 races... I would say the acceleration is between 7.5 and 8 seconds from 0-60. I have one, and that has not bothered me one bit.

The car handles brilliantly, stops quite well, and sticks to the road like glue. If you can live without the stoplight drag racing, I think you will love it. Mine is equiped with the Sport package, and while I would love to buy the 6 speed (if I could trust myself not to burn the clutch like I have in the past), I am just fine with the auto. Oh yeah, that is a good price you have been quoted.

I say go for it if you like the car.

Yea i got the auto RX8 for 23,900, so you definitely got a great deal there! I say go for it. I love my 8 even if it isn't fast. Shoot I used to drive a Dodge Colt, so to me, the 8 is fast enough!

I was a little worried about its power when I first got it, but after it had broken-in! It's power has much improved and mpg has improved 4mpg...no fooling! This is my 12 rotary...

I agree , i was worried about power at first . After i broke it in and i learned how a rotary sounds ( my first rotary). i get good power. over 40 the car will fly__________ I found that having never driven a rotary before . I had to change the way i used the gas . Forget the sounds and jerks of a piston engine , and get a feel of the car to finally get the power out of it .

Keep the RPM's above 4500 and it's loads of fun. But like everyone else says, off the line isn't anything to write home about. I was playing in the rain yesterday. I had the DSC and Traction control off and was having tons of fun. I love steering with the rearend. :D
