Well, I never mentioned "Rx-8", "car", "Mazda" or anything like that. Everything I wrote was literally correct. If you misinterpreted it, then I'm sorry

Yeah baby!

I had one of those OS Wankels in a 1/4 scale Stearman once.
It was wicked noisy!

Are you sure it was 1/4 scale? That's a really big, slow airplane for a little engine best suited for fast models.

And no, as far as I know no one tried to make a birotor engine out of these. But there have been several twin engined wankel airplanes.

That .18 makes less than 1/3 the power of the Wankel!

if its just mis-shift and it pops up off the tach chart, the Flywheel should stay and u should be alive (and engine/tranny/drivetrain should be fine as well)

but if you're talking about, using 3rd party or even strip the ECU and use Motec to try to get it to 15K at all times. Well, good luck to your leg or whoever in the passenger side. u'll be lucky if the flywheel flies down instead of going up somewhere.

Actually guys......My Mazda tech told me OUR CAR ENGINES are dynoed at about 14K. They have rev limiters and fuel cutoffs for safety reasons of course to be used on the streets....and thats why when you accidentally hit 10K or higher in the "wrong" gear they DON'T fly all to pieces....He didn't recommend it's done all the time, but it won't hurt it. I hit 10K in first and second tonight, with a cold engine at 40 degrees and it's not garage parked. The car had not been cranked in 2 days and it was 28 last night..no problems...
