Asking for compression test results
Hi, after I've had a compression test done, pass or fail, is there any reason why I can't get a full copy of the results from the Mazda service manager for my records?

I had it done before the core warranty expired, it failed the test, I am having a reman put in, and they are seeing if Mazda will refund the $180 cost of the test, so he hasn't charged me yet. I just want a copy for my records before they put the engine in, and the dealer seems reluctant to give them for some reason, is that strange? I just like to have records of everything, for when I sell it to the new owner later. So I can show how much better the new engine is.

i would wait to see what comes of it. if they are giving you a reman even if you have to pay for the compression test i wouldn't be complaining. it may be good for your record but would you rather fight for a new engine or just not know how bad the old engine was?

So most remans will last more than 2 years then? I am definitely doing the right thing by paying my $1200 share and putting one in even if my old engine barely failed the compression test? I really feel like I had a couple years left in my old engine. I had no idling issues, it didn't start any different when hot, it just takes about 2 extra seconds to start ever since I put a new battery in a year ago, no matter whether hot or cold. It seems just a little slower, but my wife who drives the car doesn't even notice.
