for anyone looking at the 8 that has not yet bought one

I know everyones cars are different but ever since my car has hit the 50 k mile mark it feels like it has been falling apart around me, might want to consider this if you are looking into buying one. I can, most of the time, deal with a car that has no ***** ( i drove a car in Germany that had 35 hp ), and the MPG, but what i cant deal with is the fact that every month it seems like something else is going wrong. He is the run down, and first of all, the maint. schedule is kept up to date and the car is not abused.

Sometimes the motor will seem like it has caught and started and if you let off the ignition before it has actually started it will be flooded when you try again. So this means most times when i start if feels like, "Nice, my car started." Which sucks to have a car that is a few years old and you have to worry about it starting. Next, the tranny has had 2nd gear replaced, then i got it back and had problems with 6th and it had to back another time. After this, the visor broke in half. Then, the tail light has started to resemble a fish tank. Now, when there is a lot of moisture in the air the clutch creeks so loudly that i can hear it over the road noise and radio. The shift **** is falling apart, the seats now have cracks in them ( which could have to do with the way they were taken care of before i bought it, but i have cleaned and conditioned them frequently ). The interior rattles over bumps, and when the speakers emit bass the door on the passanger side rattles. The sunroof rattles when its open and i am sitting still. And i have a sneaking suspision the diff will not last too much longer. This one is just pure speculation, i came to this the other day as i pulled out onto a wet road and the dsc was off and one tire spun and it did not send power to the other wheel for a second and when it did it just did not feel right, dont know how to explain it really, and it has done this one other time since then. This might just be that the fluid has been shreded. so to speak. I was kinda worried about this when i bought because not many people had 04 with 60k miles or more on the clock, or atleast not ones that were posting. I guess that is the problem with most message boards they are 90% supports of the car that dont see anything wrong with it. Anyway let the badgering begin...

Oh yeah and here is one more thing, the CD player will skip for a few seconds on 75% of the cd's i put in at around the 2 minute mark, and dont tell me that is my computer or cd's. I have, since the problem has started, bought a new xps and sold the old laptop i would use. So 2 different optical drives different cd brands, and it also does it on bouught cd's from the store. A fresh cd out of the box will do this. I have to hit the button the FF for a second to get past it then it is all good till the next track. And another thing the center console screws keep falling out of the armrest cover and they slowly get lost as one falls out at a time. So eventually you will be down to half the screws and i have to go find some more from somewhere.

This car reminds me of the talon TSi i had where when i would accelerate hard i would get wheel hop and a vent would pop out of the dash lol. Any way if you get this car it is a gamble, and you have to think 90% of the people who dont like the quality of their car will not be on the internet posting about it, so dont think since everyone on this board loves their cars and does not have problems with it that yours will be the same. My problem now is i cant sell the car because the resale of the car is crap and no one wants to buy a used rx-8 because they no better.

Edit:
Better now???

hit 40K on monday, car is KICKING *** and running stronger then ever.

Newb: I suggest browsing some of the TSB's for your issues.
- sunroof rattle TSB
- crank, no start TSB
Do some a 'rotary tuneup': new ignition coils, plugs, and spark plugs.
- The rattling can be fixed, there's a sticky on this. (Rattle hunt)

P.S. this might explain why you got your *** kicked by a 1990 honda civic.

My car is a lemon, because it refuse to flood, I can start it everytime, and the engine is pulling stronger everyday.

I should sue Mazda because my car does not have a problem

you mean kinda like you talking **** to everyone that posts something negative about this car.

Yeah the car is out of warranty and TSB are not free fixes now. And i just started going to school full time again and working so the majority of my money now goes to gas and bills after that not much left.

You know, it sucks that your car has problems - it is a pita to deal with the BS, especially with dealerships involved.

Any potential buyers should read up on problems - there are a few, and some are very serious. But any informed buyer should be able to avoid many of your issues.

Frankly, your post is crap and full of contradictions.

After stating this little tidbit you go on to say you are not the original owner. Many of your problems have been fixed UNDER WARRANTY, except obviously the owner prior to you did NOT get them fixed. So maybe the oil was changed regularly, but that doesn't mean it wasn't abused, nor does it mean it was well cared for in other areas.

Wow. What world do you live in? Most new threads by "Rx-8 Newbs" are similar to this drivel. New members who show up on the boards and post nothing but complaints.

Then there are many respected members who have been here a while and complain about issues. In fact, most of the "trouble free" owners have to post ***** like hell to make sure people realize there ARE trouble free rx-8s. Because, contrary to your warped opinion, the internet is flooded with people who bitch like hell while those with no problems don't post "everything is fine" threads on a daily basis.

But good luck with your problems.

yeah that is what i am waiting for. Many other things have messed up so far i am surprised the motor has not go. The day that happens i hope i dont have it anymore, but if i do i hope the warranty coverage i bought at the dealer for 1k will cover it without dicking me around.

There have been many people without any major problems but are a few that have engine failure. But hopefully this motor will last.

Just because your car is giving you problems doesn't mean all RX-8's are going to give everyone problems. The vast majority of ours have been great

yeah i was gonna trade it in until the dealer said they MIGHT be able to give me 10k, assuming it is perfect condition. I still owe 16 on it so that is not an option. That extra 1k warranty really screwed up my negative equity

And mine is an 04, it really kinda sucks because if you have the money you should get one new and know you have mazda there for the next 3 years or so, but then you eat the HORRIBLE depreciation. Or you can save a TON of money and get a used one ( i have seen them as low as 14k now) but then it is like a gamble, just like any used car i guess but it seems more prominent in this one

You know RX8-Newb, you've made it very clear how much you hate this car. It's slow, you got eaten by a Civic, it's falling apart.....and you keep posting it over, and over, and over again- kind of like you're deliberately trying to start a flame war. Why, exactly, is this?

I feel really sorry that your car is ****.

Like others have said, you have a few issues :

You're not the original owner, sure you probably did take care of the car. but what about the previous owner(s) ? you even answered your own question in one of our post

you can save a TON of money and get a used one ( i have seen them as low as 14k now) but then it is like a gamble, just like any used car i guess but it seems more prominent in this one
Have you ever thought about that, you accepted the gamble, and you lose ?

For the HORRIBLE depreciation part, sure, the early 04 and some 05 depreciation really fast. Lets talk about 04. its 4 years since it came out. Do even have any idea how much a car depreciate after 4 years of ownership ? Not to mention Mazda way overestimate the demand, some of the left overs was selling like as much(or more) as 10K under msrp. I got my 05 about 6K under msrp, thats about 3.5K under invoice. I got a pretty good deal.

and REMEMBER, even you buy it as new, the moment you sign that paper, you already lost couple thousand bucks. It applies to any car.

Plus. you post nothing but crap. you didnt even do your homework before you got your car. Whos fault is that ? You.

You over paid your car like crap. I have a 05, brand new, 5K down, and now I have about 10 K left which Im planning to pay it off this year. The loan suppose to be *pay off* 2 years from now. You got a used 04 and still own them 16K ? wow, you suck at money management.

So please stop posting, no one really wants to read ur crap.
