whats a good normal milage for a clutch to need to be changed normally. because I bought my 8 back in May, and every once in a while the clutch wont disengage when i press the pedal, and when i go to shift it grinds. im feeling like the clutch is getting worn but the car only has like 28k

 

It's the slave cylinder or your clutch pedal. Not the clutch. Your clutch pedal bracket may be breaking. Charles R. Hill makes an upgrade for this. Definitely bring it to the dealer and have them check it out. A worn clutch will not cause the gears to grind. Only if it's not disengaging properly.

 

my rx8 6 speed has 72k miles on it, recently the clutch started to be hard on me, esp when i hit the gas going from 2nd to 3rd would be hard to upshift, then i would have to rip the stickshift out of 2nd reallll hard to down shift to 1st and 1st would almost be locked and hard to get into, when i use the clutch pedal ill push all the way down and when i let go itll go up a lil stop then slowly rise back to the top, and now i cant even shift the car at all because all the gears are locked and the only way i can move the car is if i (before turning the car on) i put it to first, then turn on the car ( which takes 2-3 sec longer than usuall) and it pops to first but i cant upshift at all and if the rpm is low it will turn off.... btw when the car is off i can shift it smoothly....QUESTION IS: IS IT MY CLUTCH OR CLUTCH BRACKET THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED?? i need answers asap if anyone can help, appreciate it guys.

 

Maybe. It could also be the clutch master or slave cylinder.

alll the people who have clutch problem. check the clutch pedal for any broken weld. they are under a recall you can have them replaced FREE!

 

OK..I need to replace the clutch on my 2004 RX8...any recommendations? I hear Eddy being mentioned a lot. What is a reasonable charge for a mechanic to do this if I supply him with the clutch kit? The dealer is NOT where I would take my car...Way too expensive
