Anyone ever taken apart the stock shift knob?
 

Hello all. I am about to get a different stock shifter, leaving me with 2. I want to open my old one up and put an rx8 logo in place of the H pattern of the gears, and have it illuminated.

So basically make an illuminated shift knob with an rx8 logo there.

Anyone familiar with doing anything like this?

You may be the first but should b easy enough I believe that top stainless steel pieck thing just comes off some how!

Some vendor sells illuminated knobs, not sure you'd be able to make one out of a stock knob. Here's a thread I started when mine was acting up:

I was able to get the silver piece out, tightened the screw and put the plastic circle back in. As I said, I doubt you'd be able to run any wiring in there without some serious modifications...
