Anyone else get a letter from Mazda North America?
It was regarding "borrowing" the car for emissions testing.
Part of the letter read:
Dear Mazda Customer:
As part of Mazda North America Operations' ongoing commitment to the environment and continuing efforts to improve the quality and performance of our vehicles, Mazda North American Operations is performing an emissions engineering evaluation on our recent model year vehicles.
I bolded the part that I find particularly interesting..

Never took it to the dealer for a flooding issue. Only issues I have been to the dealer are all non powerplant related.
To answer the compensation question - it's $150 and another Mazda vehicle to drive while they have yours.
Don't know if I will be selected or not. I called this morning and was told the car had to have 10k miles by January.. I only have 6,700 and wont be hitting 10k in January unless I make a trip to Florida

Manufacturers don't often do things that cost money voluntarily. They are probably required to provide ongoing emissions compliance data to the EPA.
No letter here.

no letter here and i would be surprised if they sent one to me they should but they would probably not want me looking over their shoulder the whole time trying to pry secrets out of them.
what was the return address? did it come from irvine cali or that marketing part in PA?

I haven't gotten a letter thus far- and I'm one of the ones that have had a cat failure.
Now that you mention it- there shouldn't be a problem with emissions testing in 5 years, however on the other hand MA has some of the tougher standards (we're on a modified CA emissions testing)
time will tell

Addressing Pkskull77's oncerns:
I seem to recall that emissions-related car components aren't subject to the usual warranty limitations. Either the warranty is a lot longer or it has to be for the useful life of the car. Some kind of Federal law protects us as the owners, I believe. Anyone know anything about that, or am I remembering incorrectly?
