I think unfortunately this happened to me this morning. The driver's side one in my car retracts quite quick and it nipped the bottom portion of the window. theres a small line crack . Looks more like a scratch but still depressing.

 

Can't say I have, then again, I dont slingshot my seatbelt when i unbuckle lol.

 

errr no. mine retracts normally.

 

Sorry, I haven't heard that one before - sounds like a fluke, bad luck event.

 

And here I was thinking my seatbelt was annoying for not retracting fast enough... Sorry that happened to you man. Just bad luck.

 

Ive hit my window while PUTTING on my seat belt. If im in a hurry i tend to pull the seat belt pretty quick and while im holding it ... i hit the metal part against the window. Ive never broken it though lol.

 

Never in my life it happened to me. Yours might be a defect...lol

You didn't actually crack your window. The windows are made of tempered glass, and there is immense internal strain built into the glass when it's manufactured. They do this on purpose to make sure the glass shatters into tiny little pieces that can't stab you. If you had cracked it, spider-cracks would have started spreading instantly, and within a few hours the entire window would be cracking and falling apart.

You probably just scratched it.

 

pretty easy to tell if its scratch or cracked

use ur nails and drag it over on inside, if u can feel the "crack" thru ur nails, go over on the outside, do you feel it? if u don't, then u're good, if u do, well it's a crack and eventually it will spread like fyrstormer said.

it's not hard to replace the glass, maybe 30-45 mins. depends on how good you are.
