Question any problems with car scraping?

Hey guys, I'm looking to buy an RX-8, and I was wondering if any of you have any problems with your car bottoming out at all? My Camaro that I have now does pretty often. I really have to be careful on some driveways and roads. I dont know if its Western PA thats bad or what. Thanks for the help, and btw, this board is AWESOME!! It has been very informative on this car. GREAT JOB!!

I have never bottomed out. I do not have the aero package, though. All I have are splash guards front and rear. Am thinking about the front lip and side aeros though. Eventually.

ive had mine since dec 18. havent bottomed out yet and i do have the aero package and air dam. we also have horrible roads here so i still try to be careful (take everything at an angle). ive had an eclipse spyder and dodge avenger. They both bottomed out easily (like any time i drove over a rock it seemed) so i understand your concern. i had the front of my eclipse painted twice because of it. but no prob yet in my 8. clearance seems great for such a low car!

go for it camaro194! I LOVE MY 8 and im sure you've noticed everyone else loves theirs too!!

good luck!! :D

I have winter tires on that are slightly smaller than stock, 17" wheels and my M3 winter tires. this gives me about a 1" drop. I hit the middle of the car on high grade driveways but not the front or rear of the car. Next year I will buy bigger tires. On stock wheels I never had a problem.

I have the aero package and I dropped the car 1" on AutoEXE springs.
I still don't hit bottom, even on steep driveways.

Once, coming out of a gas station with my parents in the back seat and my wife riding shotgun... with all of thier luggage in back. (Taking them to the airport)

Otherwise no problems.

BTW I would estimate about 700-800 lbs to get it low enough to really bottom out on a steep angle transition.

Only thing I would recommend is stay away from those STUPID concrete parking barriers. My air dam definitely does NOT fit over the majority of them. I've been lucky so far, but I know one of these days I'm going to scrape the bottom over something stupid like a curb or parking barrier.

thanks guys for all of you help. I think the main problem with my car now is the fact that the nose of the car sticks out farther past the front wheels and it always scrapes on quite a few inclines if I'm not careful. I was at the dealership the other day and for some reason a couple of pictures I saw online of the blue rx-8's looked like a really light blue, but when I got the dealership, the blue looked awesome. I dont know if it was the camera or the lighting on some of the pics, but in person, it looks a lot better.
