Any good books on the RX-8 out there?

I've been looking for books on the car but haven't been able to find anything. I'm looking for something on the history of the car, its development, etc. There were a ton on the RX-7 but I've had no luck locating one on the RX-8. The only things I've found have been mentions in "sports cars of today" type books but nothing specifically about the RX-8. Anyone know of any? Thanks.

You're looking for the Jack Yamaguchi book.

Hard cover, 191 pages of interesting facts and engineering details on the car includes glossy color photos. This was a RX-8 preorder gift and is no longer being published.

I too haven't given up my search on rx-8 literature, although i've learned its VERY limited. Most of it is history stuff leading up to the 7, and then maybe mentioning the 8 on the last few pages.

grr...might have to eBay this book...

That clearly didn't take long...located one on amazon.com for $47 in near new condition. $53 shipped.

Just for anyone else looking, there is one on eBay that is available to buy it now if you type in Jack Yamaguchi.

Also, there are 3 more on amazon.com ranging from $39.99 to 49.99.

Got a new book to drool over now! :-)

Don't forget the Engine manual; transmission manuals; and wiring diagram.

other than technical books, I haven't been able to find any RX-8 specific literature. It's a shame, really. Maybe in a few years

Hyper Rev came out with 2 volumes for the RX8 (Vol. 96/Vol. 110). It wouldn't do you any good if you can't read Katakana, Hiragana and Romaji but There's a lot of pictures and most of the Titles are written in English.

Make that two. And the $39.99 one is no longer available...it's on its way to me.

Thanks for the heads up.

glad to see someone too advantage of that. I figured that once i posted that note, all 3 would be gone withing a few days. Well have to see how close we actually come to that!

It really did surprise me as to how LITTLE literature there is out there on the actual car, aside from diagrams and manuals.

LoL. Even I'm impressed.

As of tonight, 10:15PM...there are none available on amazon.com!

Looks like it might be a mad rush for the one on eBay.com

I bet that guy has been waiting for months for those $40-$50 ones to go so he could list his.

When I bought my 8 and joined this club last summer, that book was mentioned. I remember looking it up and finding some for sale. Memory is a little fuzzy, but I think they were going for closer to that one's price than the three we just snapped up.

When I got my RX-8 Sinn watch from Germany ... it comes with a beautiful hardcover book. Only thing is that it's in German, with a couple of English phrases here and there. It's like 191 pages! From my VERY limited German (and what I gather from the pictures), it talks about the history of the Rotary and the evolution of the RX series. I guess if you know any German rx8 owners, they can probably hook you up.

I need to find a German girlfriend to translate my book... maybe I can get one of Nightracer's "friends" to help

Don't know if this is relevant but, I was watching the History Channel and there was a "Modern Marvels" episode on engines. During the episode, they did a interview with Mazda and talked all about the history of rotary engines from Wankel to Mazda. Cool stuff.
