Hi all, well I just picked up my virtually new 2004 RX8 from the Chicago area, I live in Windsor, Ontario, Canada just across from Detroit. I had a nice drive home except for the 400 miles of rain. Picked up a lightning yellow that is in mint condition, only 5500 miles. The former owner was an older gentlemen who only put 884 miles in the first year. Not a scratch or ding, no rim rash, I don't even think this thing saw a highway as there isn't even a sign of stone chipping etc. Everyone thinks I bought a brand new car!

Car handles like an absolute deam! It fits like a glove. It's great to drive a manual again. I just can't wipe this stupid smile off my face.

Good job! Thats barely any miles at all! Better red line the hell out of that thing here & there. We bought our 2007 last February I want to say, & we have only put about 2K miles on it ourselves. She sees the garage a bit too much, & will spend a lot more time there when winter hits.
Oh & Congrats again!

oh ya, that reminds me about a question regarding redlining. I am pretty sure I recall reading that there should be a noise of some type when you hit about 8500 rpm. I have done this about 3 times going from first to second and have heard nothing - any thoughts?

Welcome and congrats!
I still get the stupid grin when I go driving...
Maybe you can add location to your profile for later reference.
Do you plan to do any mods?

I've heard that some of the beeps or tones are very faint(weak), mine is nice and loud, but roll up you windows, turn the tunes down, and run it up there quickly(WOT), You don't need to be WOT, but do it anyways and see if you hear it. It should beep around 8500-9000. I think it's 8500 though.

I am looking to do a couple minor mods to the interior, I want to paint the console side trim pieces yellow and maybe the door handle gaurds and then I will see from there - possibly the molding around the power window and door locks but I just want to add some accent not go crazy.
On the exterior I just want to add the 3M clear bra on the front and I would like to swap out the rear bumper for something like a mazda speed but I am still looking around on that piece.

Friendly Suggestion

Congrats on the new car!

Just a freindly suggestion, and you probably already know this, but when you take your nehicle in for servicing at a Mazda dealership you will want to verify that any applicable Technical Service Bulletin work has been done just to keep things in tip top shape.

Congratulations again and enjoy the ride!

Congrats! I just got mine also, and am very familiar with the stupid grin!

Are you gonna get a set of snow tires/rims or run it on all seasons?
