Another happy new 8 owner!
Well, thanks largely to RX8Club.com (and RockyMountainRx8.com), I got my 8 this past Tuesday. With all of the flooding and reliability issues circulating around, I had ruled the RX-8 out. Then I found this site. I spent many hours each night in the Tech Forum and got well educated (thanks to all of you knowlegeable members) on the pros and cons of the 8. I've saved every TSB that applies to my VIN (not as many as I initially thought), so I know what to look out for. I decided, like most of you, the benefits far outweigh the drawbacks. I have no problem going out to the garage and letting her warm up for 5-10 before I leave each morning and avoiding "short trips" (small price to pay).
I almost bought a new 2004 since the dealers are getting really motivated to get them off their lots, but then I came across a deal I couldn't pass up. A FULLY loaded 2004 with only 9,000 mi, orig owner. Here's the Reader's Digest version: Owner of auto shop bought for wife (both very nice people) as a weekend driver (wife worked at shop, so they carpooled in SUV). Wife got job as an art teacher, so she needed a year-round vehicle (Colorado winters) that could haul art props. She already started the teaching job and needed the SUV asap.
Here are the detail:
Build date: 10/03, purchased: 1/04
2004, velocity red mica, black/red leather int.,
Grand Tour Pkg, appearance pkg, rear spoiler, rotary accents,
navigation system, 6-disc CD, spare tire kit,
matching gear shift & red leather brake handle,
3-sets OEM RX-8 floor mats (2-carpet, 1-rubber), clear bra,
LoJack, OEM RX-8 car cover, RX-8 door sill plates, always garaged.
Looks like it came right off the showroom floor.
Not a scratch or ding ANYWHERE in or out.
Both recalls done and has the "N" PCM flash (that's the latest, right?)
$25,000 even.
I know she loved her 8, 'cause when I picked it up, she gave me a large envelope containing the factory sticker, 04 RX-8 dealer brochures (car, accessories, etc.), magazine articles, every paper that came with the car and even a new bottle of touch-up paint! I'm so happy I think I might cry! ;-)
Anyway, I have all of you to thank... So, THANKS! Sorry this got so long, but as you can tell, I'm a little excited! Clear side markers and new 6x9s are next...
