You never know these days....
For all we know, the seller could have listed an incorrect location in his account.
But that auction contains more than just side airbags, looks like drivers side too.

The ones on ebay sound like they are from a track car. There just arn't that many RX-8 in LA. I would hope the cops are checking their accident reports to see where a wrecked RX-8 is being fixed.

One thing I have learned about airbgs- Because it (the fronts anyway) are a federally mandated safety item, in this country- every airbag module is numbered and tracked to the specific vehicle- in other words, although unlikely, if the new vehicle in which my airbag is headed should get into an accident and the bags are deployed, an honest repair shop will know(by the serial number on the module, that the module they are replacing, was not the module instaled with the vehicle at the factory. by the time this all occurs my blue rx8 will only be a memory.
BTW- that day at LAX- Thre- in addition to mine, 3 other airbags where stolen!

This is right up there with all of the SUV thefts going around... In FL they are only stealing the rear seats outta SUVs. Apparently it has become a huge problem and theives are making bank on it...
It blows that you work hard for something, take care of it, and all it takes is one moron to ruin it for you.

exactly...i hate theives..taking something that I have busted my ***** to save up and buy and in a matter of minutes destroy...happened to my Jeep, the old 02 Tahoe (traded) that actually happened at the house inthe middle of the night, thank god for our 4 dogs...and a Firestar 9mm..cops actually said I could have shot them because they were Brandishing Weapons...found the tip of one of their knives on the running board where they tried to pry open the window seal,
sorry to hear about your car...I too hope this does not become a trend ...that would not be cool to have the 8 show up on most valued cars by thieves list...

That's correct -lessons learned-
There IS a black market for "new model" airbags (here I was worried about my NAV and radio system) none of which was touched.
I made an error in judgement parking my 8 at LAX-I didn't feel right at the time-should of went with my gut..

I remember when I was in high school the Buick Regal and the Olds Cutlass were the top stolen cars in Chicago. So if you owned one of those you got raped by the Insurance companies.
In high school every one of my cars got broken into on school grounds. At one point I was driving a 1973 Chevy Impala. The thing was yellow and rusty with this extrememly nasty green interior. AND I had a RadioShak Realistic radio that was duct taped to the dash.... Would you beleive they actually broke the window to get that cheesy thing AND the crappy alnico magnet speakers that were in ther. Dude... WTF? Even when you have a crappy car some moron violates you. Cost me more to replace that window than it did to buy that radio. AND THE DOOR WAS UNLOCKED!!!!!

If you are familar with LAX parking- My 8 was parked in AP Parking lot C.
My insurance adjuster just called, and notified me of the "residual" Damage occured by these S.O.B.s-Seems these thieves were not real smart/careful when it came to cutting the airbag (which by the way is a quick coonect- and severed many other important wires- that connect into the main wiring harness for the vehicle- total cost-unknown at this point- On a good note- already have my new 8 picked out-(same evrything) delear has been great- hope to settle all in a wek or so.
I'll fly out of Ontario from now on!!
