after market stereo

Hey guys,

I am pretty new to the forum and new to rx8.
I purchased my 08 rx8 3-4 month ago and I wanted to get some info on change out the factory stereo and swap it out with some in-dash dvd/nav system. I found this http://www.rx8web.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3566 on the web but cost 500 dollars which is little too much for what I want to spend. If i can I would like to put more money down for a better stereo unit. on eBay, I found http://cgi.ebay.com/2004-2008-MAZDA-...3D14%26ps%3D48 not sure if they do same thing. I was wondering if anyone has tried it or have better solution on changing out the factory stereo unit.
Thanks

i am talking about Aftermarket stereo conversion kit not the actual stereo system under 500. i don't want to spend 500 on a kit and spend another 500+ on a stereo unit.

Ok buy the single din metra kit, it will come with everything you need to install an a/m radio, the box the metra kit comes with will allow you to use your factory amp and speakers. then buy a nice unit for 150 bux or so install yourself and your under 500 bux!

I have the metra double din w/ a kenwood dnx5120 gps/dvd unit and i love it! everything works flawlesly. also the speakers have alot more umphh in em.

hoppe this helped you in some way.

This is probably the most complete thread on the Metra kit. Thread link, click here. It is a long read, but the information is very in depth. Don't let the first 1/4 or 1/3 scare you. There were some problems in the begining, but the most recent firmware (version 1.4) now has the unit virtually flawless. The most recent posts even say Crutchfield is now carrying the kit at a discounted rate when you purchace a HU from them as well.
