After Market Alarms

Have many owners had an alarm installed in their 8??

I have had bad luck with car break-ins and I have always had an alarm...but a cheap one that just makes noise.

I am looking to see if anyone has had good or bad luck ( I am interested in both) With alarms that have shock sensors, a perimeter sensor, engine kill, etc...

In terms of getting it installed, generally no problem. I have tilt sensor, noise sensor, engine and alternator kill, shock sensor. The only problem is that my alarm (Clifford 750) requires a tach input for some of its functionality, which the 8 does not provide. Fortunately I'll soon be ordering CZ's piggy-back, which DOES provide a tach output.

As for usefulness of the alarm, fortunately I've never had to see how well it works.

There's bunches of threads on aftermarket alarms in the Audio and Electronics forum. Lots of good info on some of the difficulties people have had with installation and successes.

DisneyDestroyer,
The clifford G5 line appears to be among the best alarms out there...what is involved in getting the right compenents to hook up the tach input? Is it expensive or worth looking at a different brand of alarm?
Thanks!!

Unless your installer is an absolute buffoon, it should not void your warranty. Also, you should definitely read the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act in case your dealer tries to give you that crap.
