after 5min idle, car looses power for 1 sec and comes back on??

Just happened for the first time last night, if the car its sitting in traffic or just sitting while idling for more than 5 min, it feels like the cars turns off and then turns right back on in 1 sec and it will keep doing that until I start actually driving away. When this happens, the WELCOME MAZDA screen will appear on the radio, all dash lights go on for about a sec and i loose power steering, it literally feels like I just turned the car off and turned it right back on. The power feels like its cutting in and out. When I shut the car and turned it back on, the DSP light flashes and traction control light is on and then when I turn the car off again and restart, all is good, no DSP or traction control lights? Anyone have a clue whats going on?

Check your batter cables, and alternator. it has to be something electrical.

You sure it's not losing power instead of loosening power?

Maybe not, if there's actual power loss, it would be some electrical problem. The fan can seem odd if you're not too sure what it is. It's quite loud, and could maybe seem like it's taking power?

If you're losing power, probably battery or alternator. Check your connections ontop of the battery.

could motor mounts have anything to do with it? Bc today it just happened when I pulled into a parking spot?? I feel like when it shakes (the car bc of motor mounts) it then looses power.

I been having an issue sort of like that, ever since I installed my TurboXS exhaust and started using amsol premix in my gas. I would start it in the mourning ( not all the times this happens) and back it out of the garage . when I get out of the car, releasing the clutch and in nuetral, the engine will surge from low Idle to a higher idle then back down again, up and down until I push the clutch back in, then it stops. weird eh!! anyways not all the time this happens.

I can only figure the car is pissed off that I didnt drive her hard the day before, you think!

i check the battery terminals and didnt see any issues, it cant be the fan, if it were the fan, it would blow the fuse again, it would blow a fuse before it would pull the power from the battery

ok, so today, it snowed and was super cold (started up like my snowmobile) windows were frozen, when I went to try to open them, all my console lights and radio turned off for a few seconds but car was still running. Then I pressed both window switches, and the lights all turned off but engine didnt die this time, while I was driving though the neighborhood, the heat was blasting and rear winow defrost was on and once again radio and console lights all started loosing power and once again, traction control light came on. Then I turned the car off when I got home and car lost all power completely, as if there was no battery and I go to turn the key in the ignition and power came back on and car started right up. Where am I loosing this power and electricity from?

Resetting ECU may help buy your issue seems like a lot of the failing alternator issues I keep seeing.

Basically pulling the negative terminal, wait 30 min, plug it back and calibrate the power steering by following the steps here: http://www.rx8blog.com/dynamic-stabi...recalibration/
you should be ready to roll. If you can have the alternator tested.
