After 17 7's i now own a 8!

Okay well yesterday i tested a 06 Shinka and i instantly fell inlove with the car. So i traded one of my most prized 7's in for her and i am now the proud pwner of a 06 copper red SHINKA version. She has just turned 250 miles and its the newest car i have ever owned.

I have been a member of all the rotary forums for years and have owned 17 rx-7's throughout the last 18yrs, so i am not a dumby when it comes to the cars, but i am a newbie on this forum and would love to here any feedback on anything concernong the 8 from any of you guys.

I am really excited and i never in a million yrs would have thouyght that i would have owned a 8, but hey, i gotta great deal and its a bad *** car. I will be waiting for any responses to this all day long.

Blake

Well i will be honest with you all. I was never impressed with the 8 until i saw one in person upon its release. But the fact that it was a 4 seat 4 door car probably detered me away from the traditional sports car appeal. But when i drove this particular car i was very impressed with its all around capability.

I would say that the 8 is a very well built car and Mazda spent alot of time designing this car with alot of research. I also love the way the car has such a drivers edge with the 4 doors and all. Me personally i was just as impressed with the feel and power as i was when i first drove a 3rd gen in 93.

I just jumped on this car becuase of its rarety and the fact thta GEM MAZDA of Tallahassee gave me a sweet deal on the car with a decent trade in for a ole' 7 that i had too.

I am taking pix of the 8 in a few hours we just had a huge storm and i wann a get it in the sun as you might understand. Go to the rx-7club forum and go to my Vb garage and you can see several of the 7's i have owned. Heres some opics of the vert i traded . I truied earlier to upload some oix of some 7's but of course they are too large. I do not understand because they work on the 7 forum. I am gonna do the photobucket thing i suppose. Thanks for the warm welcomes everyone. Man i love this car!

No modds as of yet but thats liable to change. As i have seen the best mods are of course the intake and cat replacement. But thoise are both inexpensive and can add some hp.

...not really, not with the 8 =/

I do recommend the MS Exhaust for better looking tips and more aggressive exhaust note, though.

Congrats!

Not to be pessimistic but some=2-3, straight pipe might bring that up a couple even.

Warranty can't just be voided, if somehting goes wrong they have to prove it was caused by that part. Difficult to prove a striaght pipe would cause anything to go wrong, only issue there would be a CEL, still dont think they could blame the straight pipe.

If warranty isnt an issue your best bet is intake/header back, RB flash, pullies, lightweight flywheel, drop some unsprung weight, etc

Dont look for power, imo modding suspension on this car is one of the most gratifying experiences.

THats another issue with what really wowwed me on the 8. The total driving package. This car is by far the most gratifying for the price, i remember reading in all the mags about how the car frove and i can only say one thing......they were all right!
