When I purchased my 06 Shinka used it only came with the one credit card key. I'm thinking it would be a good idea to have a spare around the house, but I'm imagining it will cost a pretty penny. Has anyone purchased a 2nd advanced key or a replacement from the dealer? How much did they get you for?

I got two when I bought mine.

 

I am probably not thinking of the same key, but I had a new 'switchblade' key made for my car, and it cost about $350. the guy tried to rip me off the first time with $450 until I did my homework. jerk.

 

Yeah, I figured that the car came with two keys, but I bought mine used from a non-Mazda dealer, and the previous owner had only traded it in with one. Just trying to get an idea of how much a second one might cost. Want to make sure I'm not getting ripped off when I give the dealer a call.

 

I have the number 110 stuck in my head. I think thats the price the dealer said it costs for the the card when I asked him about replacements.

 

I was told they are $400 CDN to replace when I got my car.

 

Yikes! Maybe I'll just have my one key surgically implanted into my arm so I don't lose it....

 

I'd say get a spare if you lock your key in your car but that's impossible with this key.
You can't even lock it in the trunk
