8 year engine warranty question.

Hi all, i am buying a 2004 rx-8 and i hear there is an 8 yeah engine warranty which would still apply to me.
My question is...can i use this warranty even though im not the first owner of the car?
Id appreciate your feedback

Yes you can. The warranty transfers between owners. The only thing is, if you do have engine problems it's likely that Mazda will ask you for service records. Oil changes and such. If you don't have these records, you may very well be screwed.

That's correct as well... I brought my 05 with under 1,000 and I put 95,000 and then had the engine replaced.

I was going to the dealer for oil changes and service, so all my receipts were on file... they will ASK you to see them so make sure you save those...

Not ALL dealers require service records. It depends on your relationship with them, or if they're just complete dicks
Try to get the maintenance records of the car. Maybe ask the dealer before hand if they will honor the warranty if you can't get the history...
Good luck!

Do series II ('09+) get the 100k warranty too or just the standard 60k on the powertrain? I'm thinking of upgrading to an '09 and want to be sure before doing anything.

I am not the original owner and had my engine replaced under warranty this past June. So the answer to your question is most definately YES!

Jason stands correct. Here's what I spotted on my very own MyMazda account:

"RX-8 Rotary Engine Core Limited Warranty Extension
Mazda Motor Corporation is extending the warranty coverage on Rotary Engine Core Components on all RX-8 vehicles produced after the 2004 model year. The warranty coverage for the Rotary Engine Core Components is extended to 8 years (96 months) from the original warranty start date, with a 100,000 mileage limitation..."

Wow, fantastic. I previously thought this only applied to the series-1 cars, but now I see they have extended it :

Guess I won't be selling mine after the basic power train warranty expires after all....
